Poeciliidae species Xiphophorus variatus comes from 南美洲. Hardy, productive and unpretentious — the gateway fish that still deserves decent water. It lives on the bottom. Adults reach 5.2–7.7 cm. Loose colonies; heavy planting shelters the fry. Stable warm water, floating plants and regular small feeds cover 90% of its needs. Maintain 15–25 °C at pH 7–8. Water quality and diet matter more than décor.
