纹腹原缨口鳅为爬鳅科鱼类，安静但会守护自己选定的栖石，原生分布于中国南方山溪。喜欢急流、凉爽、高溶氧的水环境，高温是最大的敌人。成体约 7.4–10.8 cm，单养或松散小群，取决于石头数量，适宜水温 18–26 °C。水流、溶氧和低温，三者缺一不可。
A Balitoridae species native to southern Chinese mountain streams: Vanmanenia lineata lives bottom-dwelling on rock surfaces over fast-flowing mountain streams, clinging to rocks. Calm but assertive around its chosen perch. Adults reach 7.4–10.8 cm. It is one of the aquarium-kept Vanmanenia species we profile, alongside Vanmanenia pingchowensis, Vanmanenia stenosoma, Vanmanenia gymnetrus.

Grazes rock surfaces; feed spirulina-rich foods。它在Bare rock and coarse gravel上自然觅食，投喂可少量多次。
