斯氏高原鳅为条鳅科鱼类，温和的底栖鱼，喜在细沙中翻掘，原生分布于青藏高原水系。夜行性底栖鱼，细沙底床能让它展现自然觅食行为。成体约 12.1–17.8 cm，小群 5 尾以上，单独饲养易胆怯，适宜水温 16–20 °C。细沙胜过一切造景。
Triplophysa stoliczkai, a member of the family Nemacheilidae, comes from Tibetan Plateau waters, where it inhabits hill-streams and riffles over pebbles. Peaceful bottom-dweller; burrows in fine sand and omnivorous bottom-feeder — sinking pellets, frozen foods, it grows to 12.1–17.8 cm and adapts well to a properly set-up aquarium in the 16–20 °C range.
