暗纹东方鲀为鲀科鱼类，好奇大胆，会咬同缸鱼的鳍，原生分布于中国东部沿海及江河。有鳍的性格派：认人、巡领、好奇心重。成体约 30–44 cm，单养，留出巡游空间，适宜水温 24–28 °C。定期喂螺，牙口才不坏。
Takifugu obscurus, a member of the family Tetraodontidae, comes from coasts & rivers of E China, where it inhabits estuaries and brackish shallows. Curious, bold and not to be trusted with tankmates' fins and needs crunchy prey: snails and shellfish trim the ever-growing teeth, it grows to 30–44 cm and adapts well to a properly set-up aquarium in the 24–28 °C range.
