绿虎鳅为鳅科鱼类，温和的底栖鱼，喜在细沙中翻掘，原生分布于东南亚（缅甸至泰国）。关灯后才是它的主场，细沙与缓沉饲料是关键。成体约 15.8–23.1 cm，小群 5 尾以上，单独饲养易胆怯，适宜水温 18–26 °C。细沙胜过一切造景。
Syncrossus hymenophysa, a member of the family Cobitidae, comes from Myanmar to Thailand, SE Asia, where it inhabits sandy stretches of slow rivers. Peaceful bottom-dweller; burrows in fine sand and omnivorous bottom-feeder — sinking pellets, frozen foods, it grows to 15.8–23.1 cm and adapts well to a properly set-up aquarium in the 18–26 °C range.
