尼氏南鳅为条鳅科鱼类，平和、群居、略偏夜行，原生分布于中国云南。夜行性底栖鱼，细沙底床能让它展现自然觅食行为。成体约 9–13.2 cm，建议 4–6 尾同养，夜行活动更自在，适宜水温 18–26 °C。细沙胜过一切造景。
Schistura nicholsi, a member of the family Nemacheilidae, comes from Yunnan, China, where it inhabits hill-streams and riffles over pebbles. Peaceful, sociable and slightly nocturnal and omnivore that appreciates live or frozen treats, it grows to 9–13.2 cm and adapts well to a properly set-up aquarium in the 18–26 °C range.
