宽带南鳅为条鳅科鱼类，温和的底栖鱼，喜在细沙中翻掘，原生分布于中国云南。关灯后才是它的主场，细沙与缓沉饲料是关键。成体约 9–13.2 cm，小群 5 尾以上，单独饲养易胆怯，适宜水温 18–26 °C。细沙胜过一切造景。
Schistura latifasciata, a member of the family Nemacheilidae, comes from Yunnan, China, where it inhabits hill-streams and riffles over pebbles. Peaceful bottom-dweller; burrows in fine sand and omnivorous bottom-feeder — sinking pellets, frozen foods, it grows to 9–13.2 cm and adapts well to a properly set-up aquarium in the 18–26 °C range. Other Schistura species in our database include Schistura fasciolata, Schistura incerta, Schistura nicholsi.
饲养难度：中等。Peaceful bottom-dweller; burrows in fine sand。

Peaceful bottom-dweller; burrows in fine sand；Loose groups of 5+; loneliness makes them shy。理想混养对象：Small calm cyprinids — Occupy a different water layer。需避开Large predators — Loaches are on the menu。
产地为中国云南，典型栖息地是Hill-streams and riffles over pebbles，对溶氧要求较高。
人工环境下：Spawns over sand and plants; eggs are abandoned。Females rounder-bodied。
