周氏吻鰕虎为虾虎鱼科鱼类，温和，但对同类有领地意识，原生分布于中国华东、华南山溪。每块石头都是房产；给每尾一个洞，缸里就太平。成体约 2.7–4 cm，一穴一鱼，各得其所则相安无事，适宜水温 18–26 °C。一鱼一洞，万事大吉。
Rhinogobius zhoui, a member of the family Gobiidae, comes from mountain streams of E & S China, where it inhabits shallow streams and estuaries over sand. Peaceful but territorial toward its own kind and small carnivore — live, frozen and fine sinking foods, it grows to 2.7–4 cm and adapts well to a properly set-up aquarium in the 18–26 °C range.
