台湾吻虾虎为虾虎鱼科鱼类，温和，但对同类有领地意识，原生分布于中国。底栖栖息者，终日穿梭于岩石、缸壁与洞穴之间，造景决定它的性情。成体约 4.7–6.8 cm，一穴一鱼，各得其所则相安无事，适宜水温 18–26 °C。一鱼一洞，万事大吉。
Rhinogobius formosanus is a Gobiidae from China. In the wild it prefers shallow streams and estuaries over sand; in the aquarium it stays peaceful but territorial toward its own kind.
