明潭吻虾虎为虾虎鱼科鱼类，除争夺藏身处外基本平和，原生分布于中国华东、华南山溪。每块石头都是房产；给每尾一个洞，缸里就太平。成体约 4.7–6.8 cm，成对或小群饲养，需提供充足藏身处，适宜水温 18–26 °C。一鱼一洞，万事大吉。
Rhinogobius candidianus, a member of the family Gobiidae, is native to mountain streams of E & S China. Every rock overhang is real estate; give each fish a cave and the tank stays peaceful. It lives on the bottom. Adults reach 4.7–6.8 cm. Pairs or small groups with ample hiding spots. Provide fine sand or smooth gravel, a cave per fish, and gentle to moderate flow. Maintain 18–26 °C at pH 6.5–7.5. Undemanding once its core needs are met.
