宽头拟腹吸鳅为爬鳅科鱼类，平和的啃食者，争斗只是短暂推挤，原生分布于中国南方山溪。喜欢急流、凉爽、高溶氧的水环境，高温是最大的敌人。成体约 4.5–6.6 cm，过于密集会不停推挤抢位，适宜水温 20–26 °C。水流、溶氧和低温，三者缺一不可。
A Balitoridae species native to southern Chinese mountain streams: Pseudogastromyzon laticeps lives bottom-dwelling on rock surfaces over fast-flowing mountain streams, clinging to rocks. Peaceful grazer; squabbles are brief pushes. Adults reach 4.5–6.6 cm. It is one of the aquarium-kept Pseudogastromyzon species we profile, alongside Pseudogastromyzon cheni, Pseudogastromyzon fasciatus, Pseudogastromyzon myersi.
