保亭近腹吸鳅为爬鳅科鱼类，安静但会守护自己选定的栖石，原生分布于中国海南水系。喜欢急流、凉爽、高溶氧的水环境，高温是最大的敌人。成体约 2.8–4.2 cm，单养或松散小群，取决于石头数量，适宜水温 18–26 °C。水流、溶氧和低温，三者缺一不可。
From the waters of Hainan, China comes Plesiomyzon baotingensis, a member of the family Balitoridae. A torrent-lover built to clamp onto stone in fast, cool, highly oxygenated water; warmth is its enemy. It lives on the bottom. Adults reach 2.8–4.2 cm. Singly or in a loose group on open rockwork. Aim for brisk current, high oxygen and real algae growth; a powerhead is not optional here. Maintain 18–26 °C at pH 6.5–7.5. Water quality and diet matter more than décor.
