长鳍马口鱲为鲤科鱼类，基本和平的群居鱼，原生分布于中国东部溪流。性情平和、食性杂，是混养缸里最省心的居民之一。成体约 6.8–9.9 cm，单养或小群均可，适宜水温 10–20 °C。稳水、换水、杂食，足矣。
Opsariichthys evolans is a Cyprinidae from eastern Chinese streams. In the wild it prefers clear streams and rivers over gravel; in the aquarium it stays mostly peaceful community fish.
