多鳞白甲鱼为鲤科鱼类，温和，宜与体型相近的和平鱼混养，原生分布于中国南方山溪河流。性情平和、食性杂，是混养缸里最省心的居民之一。成体约 23.7–34.8 cm，4–6 尾可观察自然行为，适宜水温 18–26 °C。稳水、换水、杂食，足矣。
Onychostoma macrolepis is a Cyprinidae from southern Chinese mountain streams. Its calm temperament and broad diet make it one of the more forgiving residents of a community tank. It uses the whole water column. Adults reach 23.7–34.8 cm. Keep in a group of 4–6 for natural behaviour. Stable water, regular partial changes and a varied diet cover nearly everything it needs. Maintain 18–26 °C at pH 6.5–7.5. A rewarding species for the aquarist who reads before buying.
