暗色沙塘鳢为沙塘鳢科鱼类，温和，但对同类有领地意识，原生分布于中国东部水系。底栖栖息者，终日穿梭于岩石、缸壁与洞穴之间，造景决定它的性情。成体约 13.6–19.9 cm，一穴一鱼，各得其所则相安无事，适宜水温 18–26 °C。一鱼一洞，万事大吉。
Odontobutidae species Odontobutis obscura comes from eastern China. A benthic percher that spends its days darting between rock, glass and cave — structure decides its temperament. It swims in mid-water. Adults reach 13.6–19.9 cm. A bonded pair claims one cave; keep others elsewhere. Caves, stable pairs and clean sand keep this fish far calmer than open, bare tanks ever will. Maintain 18–26 °C at pH 6.5–7.5. Best suited to a keeper who can match its natural water.
