异形拟平鳅为爬鳅科鱼类，温和，仅对喜欢的石头有领域性，原生分布于中国南方山溪。喜欢急流、凉爽、高溶氧的水环境，高温是最大的敌人。成体约 6.1–8.9 cm，建议一石一鱼，或 3 尾以上分散领域，适宜水温 18–26 °C。水流、溶氧和低温，三者缺一不可。
Liniparhomaloptera disparis is a Balitoridae from southern Chinese mountain streams. In the wild it prefers fast-flowing mountain streams, clinging to rocks; in the aquarium it stays peaceful.
