犁头鳅为爬鳅科鱼类，平和的啃食者，争斗只是短暂推挤，原生分布于中国南方山溪。喜欢急流、凉爽、高溶氧的水环境，高温是最大的敌人。成体约 12.1–17.7 cm，过于密集会不停推挤抢位，适宜水温 18–26 °C。水流、溶氧和低温，三者缺一不可。
Lepturichthys fimbriata, a member of the family Balitoridae, comes from southern Chinese mountain streams, where it inhabits fast-flowing mountain streams, clinging to rocks. Peaceful grazer; squabbles are brief pushes and algae and biofilm specialist; supplement with wafers, it grows to 12.1–17.7 cm and adapts well to a properly set-up aquarium in the 18–26 °C range. In a community tank it pairs well with Other cool-water stream fish.
