红唇薄鳅为鳅科鱼类，温和的底栖鱼，喜在细沙中翻掘，原生分布于中国长江水系。夜行性底栖鱼，细沙底床能让它展现自然觅食行为。成体约 15.8–23.1 cm，小群 5 尾以上，单独饲养易胆怯，适宜水温 22–28 °C。细沙胜过一切造景。
Leptobotia rubrilabris, a member of the family Cobitidae, comes from Yangtze basin, China, where it inhabits sandy stretches of slow rivers. Peaceful bottom-dweller; burrows in fine sand and omnivorous bottom-feeder — sinking pellets, frozen foods, it grows to 15.8–23.1 cm and adapts well to a properly set-up aquarium in the 22–28 °C range.
