埃氏裸鲤为鲤科鱼类，成年个体安静，幼鱼时期群游，原生分布于青藏高原水系。高原河流的冷水性鲤科鱼，请按温带溪流鱼而非热带鱼对待。成体约 11.2–16.5 cm，建议长缸单养或小群，适宜水温 18–26 °C。降温比喂食更重要。
Gymnocypris eckloni, a member of the family Cyprinidae, comes from Tibetan Plateau waters, where it inhabits clear streams and rivers over gravel. Calm giants; anything swallowable is food and accepts most foods; give it greens as well as protein, it grows to 11.2–16.5 cm and adapts well to a properly set-up aquarium in the 18–26 °C range.
