海氏颌须鮈为鲤科鱼类，基本和平的群居鱼，原生分布于中国各水系。性情平和、食性杂，是混养缸里最省心的居民之一。成体约 8.1–11.9 cm，单养或小群均可，适宜水温 18–26 °C。稳水、换水、杂食，足矣。
Gnathopogon herzensteini, a member of the family Cyprinidae, comes from China, where it inhabits clear streams and rivers over gravel. Mostly peaceful community fish and accepts quality flakes, granules and frozen foods, it grows to 8.1–11.9 cm and adapts well to a properly set-up aquarium in the 18–26 °C range.
