美吸鳅为爬鳅科鱼类，平和的啃食者，争斗只是短暂推挤，原生分布于婆罗洲。喜欢急流、凉爽、高溶氧的水环境，高温是最大的敌人。成体约 3.4–5 cm，过于密集会不停推挤抢位，适宜水温 19–23 °C。水流、溶氧和低温，三者缺一不可。
Gastromyzon scitulus, a member of the family Balitoridae, comes from Borneo, where it inhabits fast-flowing mountain streams, clinging to rocks. Peaceful grazer; squabbles are brief pushes and algae and biofilm specialist; supplement with wafers, it grows to 3.4–5 cm and adapts well to a properly set-up aquarium in the 19–23 °C range.
