四须盘鮈为鲤科鱼类，基本和平的群居鱼，原生分布于中国南方水系。性情平和、食性杂，是混养缸里最省心的居民之一。成体约 12.4–18.2 cm，单养或小群均可，适宜水温 18–26 °C。稳水、换水、杂食，足矣。
Discogobio tetrabarbatus, a member of the family Cyprinidae, comes from southern China, where it inhabits clear streams and rivers over gravel. Mostly peaceful community fish and accepts quality flakes, granules and frozen foods, it grows to 12.4–18.2 cm and adapts well to a properly set-up aquarium in the 18–26 °C range.
