大弹涂鱼为虾虎鱼科鱼类，温和，但对同类有领地意识，原生分布于中国东南沿海滩涂。每块石头都是房产；给每尾一个洞，缸里就太平。成体约 8.2–12.1 cm，一穴一鱼，各得其所则相安无事，适宜水温 18–26 °C。一鱼一洞，万事大吉。
Boleophthalmus pectinirostris, a member of the family Gobiidae, comes from muddy coasts of SE China, where it inhabits shallow streams and estuaries over sand. Peaceful but territorial toward its own kind and small carnivore — live, frozen and fine sinking foods, it grows to 8.2–12.1 cm and adapts well to a properly set-up aquarium in the 18–26 °C range. In a community tank it pairs well with Shrimps in a species setup.
