半刺光唇鱼为鲤科鱼类，温和，宜与体型相近的和平鱼混养，原生分布于中国南方山溪河流。性情平和、食性杂，是混养缸里最省心的居民之一。成体约 15–22 cm，4–6 尾可观察自然行为，适宜水温 15–25 °C。稳水、换水、杂食，足矣。
Acrossocheilus hemispinus is a Cyprinidae from southern Chinese mountain streams. In the wild it prefers clear streams and rivers over gravel; in the aquarium it stays peaceful.
