峨眉鱊为鲤科鱼类，多数温和，宜与温顺鱼混养，原生分布于中国及东亚淡水水系。与亲属一样需要淡水蚌类完成繁殖，没有蚌类时看不到完整繁殖行为。成体约 5.4–7.9 cm，建议 6 尾以上小群饲养，适宜水温 15–25 °C。饲养不难，难在稳定。
