无须鱊为鲤科鱼类，温和的群游鱼，不宜与大型鱼同缸，原生分布于中国及东亚淡水水系。与亲属一样需要淡水蚌类完成繁殖，没有蚌类时看不到完整繁殖行为。成体约 6–8.8 cm，群游性，建议 8 尾以上，适宜水温 15–25 °C。饲养不难，难在稳定。
Acheilognathus imberbis, a member of the family Cyprinidae, comes from China & East Asia, where it inhabits clear streams and rivers over gravel.
