无须鱊为鲤科鱼类，温和的群游鱼，不宜与大型鱼同缸，原生分布于中国及东亚淡水水系。与亲属一样需要淡水蚌类完成繁殖，没有蚌类时看不到完整繁殖行为。成体约 6–8.8 cm，群游性，建议 8 尾以上，适宜水温 15–25 °C。饲养不难，难在稳定。
Acheilognathus imberbis is a Cyprinidae from China & East Asia. A mussel-dependent spawner: without freshwater mussels in the system its full breeding behaviour simply never shows. It lives on the bottom. Adults reach 6–8.8 cm. Shoaling; keep at least 8 together. Give it quiet water, a sand bed and steady maintenance; it ignores most fish foods only when they are too large. Maintain 15–25 °C at pH 6.5–7.5. A rewarding species for the aquarist who reads before buying.
