Spinibarbus denticulatus, a member of the family Cyprinidae, is native to southern China. Its calm temperament and broad diet make it one of the more forgiving residents of a community tank. It uses the whole water column. Adults reach 25.5–37.4 cm. Keep in a group of 4–6 for natural behaviour. Stable water, regular partial changes and a varied diet cover nearly everything it needs. Maintain 18–26 °C at pH 6.5–7.5. Water quality and diet matter more than décor.
