Parambassis ranga, a member of the family Ambassidae, comes from South Asia, where it inhabits still and slow waters with dense vegetation. Peaceful but will eat tiny fry and carnivore-leaning omnivore; small foods, it grows to 6–8.8 cm and adapts well to a properly set-up aquarium in the 22–28 °C range. In a community tank it pairs well with Similar-sized peaceful community fish.
