Cyprinidae species Onychostoma simum comes from southern Chinese mountain streams. A adaptable species that forgives beginner mistakes more readily than most. It lives on the bottom. Adults reach 31.1–45.7 cm. Singly or in small groups depending on temperament. Give it clean water and room to behave naturally, and it will largely care for itself. Maintain 18–26 °C at pH 6.5–7.5. Best suited to a keeper who can match its natural water.
