Gnathonemus petersii is a Mormyridae from Africa. Its calm temperament and broad diet make it one of the more forgiving residents of a community tank. It lives on the bottom. Adults reach 26.2–38.5 cm. Small groups recommended. Stable water, regular partial changes and a varied diet cover nearly everything it needs. Maintain 22–28 °C at pH 6–8. A rewarding species for the aquarist who reads before buying.
