Esomus danrica, a member of the family Cyprinidae, comes from South Asia, where it inhabits clear streams and rivers over gravel. Peaceful, restless swimmers that use every inch and small surface-oriented omnivore; flakes and tiny live foods, it grows to 9.8–14.3 cm and adapts well to a properly set-up aquarium in the 18–26 °C range. In a community tank it pairs well with Corydoras and small loaches.
