Sicyopterus japonicus is a Gobiidae. In the aquarium it stays peaceful. Plan on 7.8–11.4 cm of adult fish at 18–26 °C. In a community tank it pairs well with Similar-sized peaceful community fish.

Expect 7.8–11.4 cm as an adult, living bottom-dwelling. A 156 L tank or larger gives it room.
Carnivore; small live and frozen foods. Feed two small meals a day rather than one large one.

Found in shallow streams and estuaries over sand; expect still to gentle current and moderate.

In the aquarium: cave or shell spawner. Males larger and more colourful.
