A Cyprinidae species native to Mekong basin, SE Asia: Rasbora borapetensis lives bottom-dwelling over gravel. Peaceful and energetic; shy only when kept too few. Adults reach 7.5–11 cm. It is one of the aquarium-kept Rasbora species we profile, alongside Rasbora caudimaculata, Rasbora einthovenii, Rasbora dandia.

Set the heater to 22–26 °C and avoid swings. pH 6.5–7, GH 5–15 dGH suit it.

Omnivore; accepts everything small enough. It forages naturally over fine gravel and sand, so let some food reach the bottom.

Jumping is not a known issue; cover the tank anyway during water changes.
In the aquarium: spawns at dawn over fine plants; eggs fall to the bottom. Males often slimmer and more colourful.
