Kao-ping Chub — a Cyprinidae from Kaoping River, Taiwan, peaceful; keep with similar-sized calm tankmates. Reaches 8.6–12.5 cm; keep in a group of 4–6 for natural behaviour. 10–20 °C.
Opsariichthys kaopingensis, a member of the family Cyprinidae, comes from Kaoping River, Taiwan, where it inhabits clear streams and rivers over gravel. Peaceful; keep with similar-sized calm tankmates and omnivore; prepared foods with regular variety, it grows to 8.6–12.5 cm and adapts well to a properly set-up aquarium in the 10–20 °C range. Other Opsariichthys species in our database include Opsariichthys bidens, Opsariichthys pachycephalus, Opsariichthys evolans.
A moderate-level species: peaceful; keep with similar-sized calm tankmates; stable water matters more than fancy equipment.

Full size is 8.6–12.5 cm. Minimum tank: 188 L, with open swimming space along its bottom-dwelling habits.

In the aquarium: breeding is straightforward scatter-spawning. Males often slimmer and more colourful.
