Artübersicht

Green Jade Shrimp is the jade-green selection of Neocaridina davidi that emerged from Taiwanese breeding programs in the late 2000s, when breeders crossing yellow and wild-type lines noticed deep green sports and stabilized them into a true-breeding strain. Good green jades are a striking deep jade — almost emerald on the back, fading to a lighter mint on the underside — and unlike some color forms the green stays rich in adulthood. It is the same forgiving species underneath: 2-2.5 cm, comfortable at 18-26 °C across pH 6.5-8.0, unfussy about hardness, and constantly at work scraping algae from leaves, wood and glass. Green jade is among the best 'working' shrimp for a planted tank because its color reads beautifully against both green moss and red plants, and its transparent undertone gives it an almost metallic glow under good lighting. It breeds as easily as the red cherry — freshwater, no larval stage, monthly clutches — and tolerates the beginner mistakes that kill more delicate Caridina. Keep colors apart, avoid copper, and it will multiply for years.
